Sandspiel is a free, open-source falling-sand game by Max Bittker. You get a canvas and a palette of elements: sand, water, stone, ice, gas, wood, plants, fungus, seeds, fire, lava, acid, dust, oil and more. Draw them on the canvas and watch them fall, flow, burn, grow and react with each other.
There is no goal and no score, just a calm place to experiment. Plants thrive in water, seeds grow on sand, acid eats through other elements, dust explodes and a cloner copies whatever it touches. The Wind tool blows everything around with a real fluid simulation. The simulation runs in WebAssembly and works smoothly on phones, tablets and computers.
How to play
- Pick an element on the side panel.
- Draw on the canvas with the mouse or your finger.
- Combine elements and watch how they react.
- Use Wind to blow things around, undo a stroke or reset the canvas to start over.
Controls
- Mouse / touch: draw the selected element
- Dots: brush size
- Pause / play, undo (curly arrow) and Reset on the panel
- Empty: erase
Tips
- Info lists what every element does.
- Seeds grow on sand, plant and fungus; water helps plants spread.
- Dust and gas are explosive: add a little fire and watch.
- A Cloner copies the first element it touches, a Rocket explodes into copies of it.
Devices
Plays on computers, phones and tablets in any modern browser.
