Endless Sky is a free, open-source space trading and combat game in the spirit of the classic space trading games of the 1990s. You start with a small ship, a big loan and a pilot's license, and from there the galaxy is yours: carry cargo and passengers between planets, take missions, hunt pirates or become one.

The game mixes an open sandbox with a long main story about a civil war in human space, and many alien species and regions to discover far beyond it. Earn money to buy bigger ships, swap engines, weapons and shields in the outfitter, hire escorts and build a fleet. This is the community-made, unofficial browser version (Endless Web): play it on a computer with a keyboard and mouse.

How to play

Press New Pilot, choose the classic start and press Start Game; enter a name.

Buy your first ship in the shipyard and press Depart.

Press M to open the map, pick a neighbouring system and press J to jump there.

Press L to land on planets: trade cargo, take jobs from the job board and the spaceport.

Pay off your loan, upgrade your ship and follow the story or explore on your own.

Controls

Touch screen: joystick on the left = fly, A = fire, B = secondary weapon, X = select weapon, Y = land, top row: J = jump, M = map, I = info, ⌨ = keyboard for names, ☰ = menu; tap the menus

Up arrow: thrust, Left / Right arrows: turn, Down arrow: turn around

Tab: fire primary weapons, Q: fire secondary weapon, W: select secondary weapon

L: land, J: hyperspace jump, M: star map, I: player info

Mouse: menus, trading and targeting; Escape: main menu

Tips

The first loading downloads about 400 MB; later starts load it from your browser.

Early on, cargo jobs and passengers between nearby systems are the safest income.

Do not fly a small ship into systems marked as dangerous until you have better shields and weapons.

Your pilots are saved in this browser only; the top bar of the game can download and upload save files.

Devices

Plays on computers; works on phones and tablets with some limits.
