Blobby Volley 2 is the free, open-source version of a cult classic: two jelly-like blobs play beach volleyball, one on each side of the net. Move, jump and bounce the ball off your head to send it over; if it lands on your side, your opponent scores. A side may touch the ball at most three times.

Play against the computer, which you can make weaker or stronger in the options, or challenge a friend on the same keyboard. The options also offer several computer opponents and alternative rule sets such as tennis, sticky mode or one-hit wonder, so the simple idea stays fresh. Matches are short, physical and surprisingly tactical.

How to play

Press Start: you are the red blob on the right, the computer plays the blue one.

Move under the ball with the arrow keys and jump with the up arrow.

Hit the ball over the net; you may touch it at most three times.

Make the ball land on the other side: first to 15 points with a two-point lead wins.

Controls

Arrow left / right: move (right blob)

Arrow up: jump

Second player on the left: A / D to move, W to jump

Mouse / touch: menus

Touch screen: joystick to move, A to jump

Esc: back to the menu

Tips

Where the ball hits your blob decides where it flies: hit it with the side of the head to aim.

Jump early for a high block at the net.

In Options you can set the computer's strength, play two humans or try other rule sets.

Two players fit on one keyboard: one uses W A D, the other the arrow keys.
