About Ancient Beast
Ancient Beast is a free, open-source turn-based strategy game by Freezing Moon and its community. Two Dark Priests face each other on a hex grid and summon creatures to fight for them: each creature has its own stats and four unique abilities, and the first side to defeat the other Dark Priest wins.
The game is set in a dystopian future split into seven factions based on the seven deadly sins, with beasts ranging from a gunslinging Bounty Hunter to a living lava creature. It is designed to be easy to learn and hard to master, with no luck involved. Play 1 vs 1 or 2 vs 2 against bots or with friends on the same device, and tune the rules: plasma points, active units, turn time and more.
How to play
- Choose the game mode and rules, then press Start. Seats you do not take are played by bots.
- Use your Dark Priest to summon a creature with plasma points.
- Move creatures over the hex grid and use their abilities on enemies.
- Defeat the opposing Dark Priest to win.
Controls
- Mouse / touch: select creatures, hexes and abilities
- Q, W, E, R: the active creature's four abilities
- Hourglass button on the right: skip the turn
Tips
- Check each creature's abilities before summoning: every unit plays very differently.
- Keep your Dark Priest out of reach; losing it loses the game.
- Unit Drops and Ability Upgrades in the setup screen change the pace of a match.
- Online matches are not part of this copy; play against bots or with a friend on one device.
Devices
